
On July 18th -21st, July 2022, 1.00 – 4.30 p.m. the International Relations Section organized a workshop on “English Development for Academic Supporting Leaders of STIN for Presentations, Exchanges, Study Visits, and Welcome Visitors.” at room 404, Sirindhanusorn 60th Anniversary Building. Assistant Professor Dr. Sukuma Tithiphontumrong, preside and gave opening remarks at this distinguished workshop. Two experts in teaching English as a second language, Assistant Professor Dr. Darunee Dujsik and Mr. Wisaithat Dujsik were cordially invited to provide knowledge on English communication for welcoming visitors to the participants who are Heads of Division and Heads of Sub-division of the institute’s office.
This workshop was held for 4 consecutive days. Instructors provided knowledge about the basic introduction such as greetings, small talk, introducing themselves and other colleagues, and greeting foreign visitors. The participants also learned about asking for and giving directions in English such as using prepositions of place, and compound sentences to describe the location. The participant also created a scenario in the lecture room for practicing English. Moreover, They practiced giving a presentation in English such as using body language including posture and facial expressions for a presentations how to start and conclude the speech, and stating the topic, questions and answers.
On the last day of the workshop, the instructors and participants simulated the campus tour around the institute’s office. Heads of Division and Heads of Sub-division practiced introducing their office and responsibility. All participants had a chance to practice and improve their English skills for presenting and welcoming foreign visitors effectively. As a result of this workshop, it encourages the participants to have the opportunity to practice English for presenting and welcoming foreign visitors as Heads of the division and Heads of Sub-division who are academic supporting leaders of STIN. The workshop also helps boost the participants’ confidence in using English for working with others, and it helps increase English language proficiency so that the academic supporting staff can be prepared to become the leaders of the institute.
